Child Abuse Response Effort

OUR GOAL is to ensure effective, prosecutable testimony in child abuse cases.

C.A.R.E. Wyoming is a not-for-profit organization whose mission involves the prevention, intervention, investigation and prosecution of child abuse. Children who have been severely abused are often in therapy for years. The National Children's Advocacy center (NCAC) strongly urges communities to establish a multi-disciplinary approach to investigating reported cases of child abuse. NCAC believes that children are often re-traumatized by an investigative process that often involves more than one lengthy interview.

During the investigation children to be interviewed often have to endure a long trip to a city to meet with a forensic professional.

A community agency is providing an interview room with an adjacent controlled-access observation room. One member of the child protection team will conduct interviews with local victims of child abuse while other members observe through the two way mirror. Observers will be child protection team members, typically from the prosecutor’s office. Law enforcement and child protective services.

Thanks to the generosity of the agency supplying the facility, we do not have expenses associated with the building and special rooms for interviewing and observing.
However, furnishing the interview room and providing quality audio/video equipment is a necessary expense. We are working to raise enough money to purchase state-of the art equipment by selling items at local events and online. The artwork you see on our website by Western Artist Virgil Stephens appears on our sweatshirts. Please visit our shop, see what we have to offer and support our effort.

While Platte County, Wyoming, is our current focus, we hope to expand to other communities once we have paid for the furnishings and equipment needed here.
